Carbon Offset Program Option One
Suggested Language for Conference Registration Website
For option 1, ACM suggests including the following paragraph on the conference registration site:
ACM SIGxxx makes it is easy for attendees to offset their carbon footprint to the (XYZ) conference through the registration process. Donations will be passed directly to Cool Effect, an organization that helps individuals and businesses develop practical and cost-effective solutions to slow, stop and reduce the climate crisis. During the registration process, you will see a check box option that will allow you to make a donation to offset your emissions from (XYZ) conference. This contribution is optional and distinct from the registration fee and will appear as such on your registration receipt. Please consult your organization in advance to determine if the expense is reimbursable.
Conference attendees may:
- Utilize the carbon offset calculator to make the appropriate donation based on travel
- Make a donation of any amount
- Make a suggested donation of "X" (amount suggested by conference organizers, i.e. $50)
Is Now the Time to Give LLMs Access to the ACM Digital Library? Share Your Feedback
Read a message from ACM President Elisa Bertino about the possibility of opening the ACM Digital Library to LLMs. While ACM's Publications Board and Digital Library Board have discussed allowing LLMs to train on articles in the Digital Library, ACM has not made a decision regarding whether or how the Digital Library might be used for LLM training. Your input is an important part of ensuring ACM continues to serve the computing community thoughtfully and responsibly. If you have not yet shared your perspectives, please read President Bertino's message and consider participating in the survey.
