Open Access Guidance for ICPS Conference Organizers
All ICPS conference proceedings are now subject to ACM's open access publication model. Full details of the publishing model are provided below, including important deadlines for ICPS application approval and publication. Please refer also to the FAQs.
New OA Publishing Model for ICPS
All new ICPS articles will be published open access in the ACM Digital Library. Some papers will require the payment of an article processing charge (APC).
For papers that fall into the following categories, no APC is required; the papers will be published in the DL at no charge:
- If the article type is not eligible for payment of an APC (please refer to the details here of APC-eligible article types).
- If the corresponding author is affiliated with an institution participating in ACM’s transformative ACM Open model.
- A list of the institutions currently participating in ACM Open is available here.
- If the country in which your institution is located is on this list of countries covered by ACM’s agreements with EIFL and Research4Life and/or classified by the World Bank as low-income countries.
All other articles will require the payment of an APC, as detailed below.
Payment options and applicable fees
When you complete the application form for publication in ICPS, you will be asked to select one of two options for payment of APCs:
- The conference will pay all applicable APCs on behalf of authors.
- Authors will be individually responsible for payment of APCs.
If you select option 1, ACM will send you a single invoice for all applicable APCs for the conference. For this option only, the following APC pricing structure will apply:
- If the corresponding author is affiliated with an institution in a lower-middle-income country (as defined by the World Bank), the APC is $125 per paper.
- For all other papers that require the payment of an APC, the APC is $250 per paper.
If you select option 2, the following APC pricing structure will apply.
- If the corresponding author is affiliated with an institution in a lower-middle-income country (as defined by the World Bank) and any of the authors is a member of ACM, the applicable APC is $125 per paper.
- If the corresponding author is affiliated with an institution in a lower-middle-income country but none of the authors is a member of ACM, the APC is $175 per paper.
- If the corresponding author is not affiliated with an institution in a lower-middle-income country but at least one of the paper’s authors is an ACM member, the APC is $250 per paper.
- For all other papers that require the payment of an APC, the APC is $350 per paper.
The pricing for options 1 and 2 above reflects a temporary subsidy introduced by ACM to help relieve the financial burden on authors who are required to pay APCs. This subsidized pricing applies to all papers that are or were processed through the ACM eRights system from 12 noon US Eastern time on March 6, 2025 to midnight US Eastern time on December 31, 2026.
Please note that ACM will not be providing refunds for APCs that have already been paid.
New deadlines for ICPS approval and publication
For all conferences where the proceedings publication is to be simultaneous with the conference, the following new deadlines apply:
- Applications to publish in ICPS should be submitted as early as possible, and must be received at least 60 days prior to the paper submission deadline of the conference, to allow sufficient time for review and approval of applications. If your proceeding is approved for publication in ICPS, you will be sent an email with further information for authors that must be posted on the Call for Papers page of your conference website.
- Metadata upload into the rights system for approved articles must be completed no later than 70 days before the start of the conference.
- All applicable APCs are due for payment 35 days before the start of the conference.
- Papers for which an applicable APC remains unpaid at this deadline will not be eligible for publication in the proceedings.
