ACM Technology Policy Council Releases "TechBrief: Government Digital Transformation"
October 23, 2025
ACM's Technology Policy Council (TPC) has released the latest installment in the TechBriefs series,"TechBrief: Government Digital Transformation.” The TechBrief addresses the fact that governments throughout the world urgently need to complete the digital transformation that started with the adoption of the World Wide Web in the 1990s and early 2000s to deliver services.
The Techbrief states that they must do so while establishing the necessary safeguards, modernizing their digital infrastructures, and offering citizen oriented digital services that are secure, efficient, integrated, and resilient. Successful transformation requires a holistic and multidisciplinary approach with transparency and accountability, especially for AI-related deployments.
ACM’s TechBriefs are designed to complement ACM’s activities in the policy arena and to inform policymakers, the public, and others about the nature and implications of information technologies. Previous ACM TechBriefs focused on accessibility, generative artificial intelligence, and climate change among others. Topics under consideration for future issues include Explainable AI, Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), and more.
