Prof. S. Krishna Chosen as the Recipient of ACM India Outstanding Contributions in Computing by a Woman (OCCW) 2025 Award

ACM India Council is delighted to announce Prof. S. Krishna from IIT Bombay as the recipient of the ACM India Outstanding Contributions in Computing by a Woman (OCCW) Award for 2025.

The ACM India OCCW award is presented to women professionals who have made outstanding contributions to the computing field and to empowerment of women in computing while primarily working in India. The award will carry a prize of ₹7 Lakhs administered by ACM India.

Prof. Krishna was chosen for making outstanding contributions towards the twin prongs of science/technology and mentoring/outreach. Scientifically, she is known for her seminal contributions to the area of formal methods, especially to the theory of transducers and in the verification of concurrent programs. In outreach, Krishna has shown unwavering dedication and undertaken significant efforts, such as regularly running training programs for high school girls, serving on her institute gender cell and complaints committee, leading a rehabilitation program for weak students and founding a day care centre for the children of construction workers.
