Expanding Regions Committee (ER-TPC)
The purpose of the Expanding Regions Technology Policy Committee (ER-TPC) is to respond to technology policy developments and make recommendations for jurisdictions beyond the scope of the established ACM Technology Policy Council’s regional committees. It will serve as the primary liaison for ACM’s engagement with government organizations in regions for which a designated regional TPC does not exist.
The ER-TPC’s goal is to identify regions with sufficient policy activity and subject-matter expertise to warrant the creation of dedicated committees. This committee develops metrics to justify the formation of new regional committees and functions as an incubator for emerging regional groups—offering strategic guidance, infrastructure, and support until a standalone committee can be established.
Steps to Join:
1 - Email the Expanding Regions Inbox:
- Name, Location, Member ID, Bio. Examples of speaking engagements, policy work, and research publications.
2 - Indicate which regional subcommittee you are interested in joining. Current regions are:
- Africa
- Asia-Pacific
- Canada
- India
- Latin America
If you are from one of the identified regions, but not living there, you are welcome to join. Committee members will be expected to contribute regularly to conversations and meet (virtually). Membership in ER-TPC carries the same benefits as the category of a member's underlying ACM membership. Student members are very welcome, but they are non-voting. To keep the committee at a reasonable size, we will periodically remove members who have not participated in their committees’ work, those with expired memberships, and individuals who violate ACM’s code of conduct.
If you don’t see a region that represents your location, you are still welcome to join the Expanding Regions Committee. It also serves as a home for ACM members working on public policy in any region where there is not already a group. Please reach out.
